Nachusa Grasslands is a nature preserve located near Franklin Grove, Illinois. The preserve is made up of 4,000 acres of restored and remnant prairie and the many wildlife species that call it home. Visitors can see bison roam and more than 180 bird species flutter amongst the preserve's rolling hills, vibrant meadows and tranquil streams. The Visitor Center is open seven days a week from dawn to dusk. When you arrive, park in the new lot and climb the low hill to the pavilion featuring exhibits that tell the story of Nachusa. From there, you can hike around the Visitor Center trail, or drive to one of five trailheads and explore. No pets or Other Power Driven Mobility Devices (OPDMDs) are allowed at the preserve.
