Lower Green Swamp Nature Preserve

The perfect spot for hikers and equestrians, this beautiful preserve boasts almost 20 miles of clearly marked trails. No facilities or potable water are available. Bikes are not permitted. The preserve is open sunrise through sunset 7 days a week. The trails wind through acres of pine flatwoods habitat in various stages of restoration, over Itchepackesassa Creek, and under towering oaks and pines. This nature preserve is managed by Hillsborough County's Conservation and Environmental Lands Management Department and was purchased using funds from the ELAPP program. Staff manage the preserve by removing invasive plants, planting native plants, monitoring wildlife, performing prescribed fire, and maintaining the hiking and equestrian trails.
