Haw River State Park is located a few miles north of Greensboro, with The Summit, the park's main access, in Browns Summit. Adjacent to the main property, along the river, is Iron Ore Belt access, which can be accessed from Church Street. This access offers a more traditional state park experience. The Great Blue Heron Loop Trail is a 3.1-mile moderate hike into wetlands, and the access also has picnic areas, one adjacent to the parking lot and one by the river, halfway along the hiking trail.
